Summer!

It is almost the end of the school year.  I can not wait, we only have monday left too do!  This blog post is going to be about what we did through out the year.

In January something really fun happened!  We had a sleepover at the school!  It was really fun.  Some of the things we did were bobsledding down the hallway, went  geocashing in the dark, and we got to paint each others faces and make them look like other countries flags!  It was so much fun and I hope we can do it again some time.

In March we went skiing on Castle Mountain!  Most kids took the bus, but my friend’s dad offferd to drive me there!  When we were skiing I went on the lift with our principal.  We had snow all over our skis, and a snow boarder fel under us.  My  to bang his skis together, and the  snow fell all over the snow boarder!  It was hilarious.  I can’t wait till next year to go skiing again!

In June we did canadian please video and we are just finishing up today!  Our videois so funny,  but i can not put it on the internet because it has my friends and my faces our on it.  I really enjoyed Doing canadian please!

It has been a great year in grade 5 an I hope next year is more fun!!!!!!!!!!

My Creature!

Rain Storm!

This week it was raining 2 days straight.  It was the worst thing ever.  The wind was gusting too 1oo kilometers per hour!  It was so widy that one of the metal chairs in my yard fell over, and the lid too our hot tub fell off and knocked down the pool!  It finally stopped raining today, but it is super wet still.  I hope it dosent rain like that again!

This week we started making a music video called Canadian Please.  Here is the original video!

I’m really enjoying remaking the video because we get too but our own clips on it!

On wednesday we went swimming……..In the rain.  We went swimming because each class gets too go swimming 3 times in June.  Itwas an outdoor pool, but since it was raining  the water felt really warm.  I can not wait until next week to go swimming again!

In math we are playing on the Nintendo DS’s, but instead of playing Professor Layton we are playing Scribble Naughts.  It is really fun because you get too solve problems with watever items you want.  Like me and my friend tried too catch a butterfly with gum stuck to the avatars hand.  It is a really fun game!

This week I had a lot of fun and I hope next week is more fun!

My Math Movie

Lego Robotics!

This week we started Lego robotics.  I am in a group with Yesenia and Mariana.  We are having so much fun building mechanical robots.  We are only on step 12, but it is harder than it seems.  We build the robots every recess, except for the lunch recess because there are intramurals.  I really can not wait until we are finished building the robot!

Guess what!!!!!  On Tuesday next week we are going to Beavis Lake to study wetlands and look at….BUGS!  We also get to climb the small mountain called Piny Point!  We only have a few rules like we have too wear long pants and runners.  I think it is going too be really fun.  It is only one and a half hours away!

It gym we are doing track and field.  Some of the activities we are doing are  high jump, running  long jump, ball throw, relay races, and  standing long jump.  I think it is going too be really great.

This week we also finished Secrets of Vesuvius in Language Arts.  My favourite part of the book was the last chapter.  They found a skeleton with rings and bracelets still on her body!!  The also found a soldier with is neck cracked!

This week was really fun and I hope I have more fun next week!!

May Long Week End!

On Monday to Wednesday we did not have school, because we had the May long week end.  On the week end my family and I  went to British Columbia  to see my grandparents. While we were there we went swimming, shopping, and went to tons of playgrounds.  I had a really good time there.  I can not wait until summer so I can go again!

Also this week Mr.Vandyk came back to be our substitute teacher while Ms.deyenberg is gone.  It is going good so far .  He is really happy about fixing the smart board all by himself.  Yesterday in math he taught  us how to make shapes  out of different shapes.  It was really fun!  I wish he didn’t have to leave so soon.

On wednesday we had needles again.  I don’t mind needles, so I was not scared.  Me and my friend went in the room together,  and  I went first.  The first needle they gave me did not hurt, but the second one made all of the girls arms numb.  It didn’t make the boys arms hurt because they only get the one that does not hurt.  That is why at the end of the year the boys end up with 3 and the girls end up withe 6.  No fair!

Today it was jersey day and Mr.Vandyk wore a Gretzky jersey.  It has been a great week with Mr.Vandyk.  I can’t wait until next week!  It is going too be so much fun!

Video Confrence!

Yesterday my class had a video conference withe Big Valley Alberta.  We talked about chemistry, and did a few experements.  They showed us how to use ethanol and a jug, to make a big explosion.  First you put the ethanol in a water jug and than you drop a lighted match inside the jug.  After that we watched the explosion.  I looked so cool.  Than we did our experiment.  We dropped mentos into a bottle of diet Pepsi.  Most of the pop flew out of the bottle.  After that we did another experiment and they did another one too.  It was really fun video confrencing  on Thursday. On may 17 we finished our class marathon!  My class and I ran 42 kilometers!  We had a party after with popcorn, and chips.  We also watched a movie called Night At The Museum, while we ate our snacks.  In language arts we are play professor Layton on  the Nintendo DS’s.  My favorite level on professor layton is when  you have to get the wolves and chickens across the river.  I was tricky, but me and my partner figured it out.    In math we are making a video about quadrilaterals .  The video will be on my blog soon! I’m still working on it though.  Can’t wait till it is finished!

Field Trip!

On June 8 my class is going on a field trip to Beauvis Lake.  When we go there we are going to study wetlands. Yesterday we had a band concert at our school.  The first band that played before dinner was the jazz band. Then the next band was us!  The two songs we played were Two Canadian Folk Songs, and than Penguin Promanade.  We sounded excellent.  After everyone finished their spaghetti supper,  the high school band played.  After that the program was over.  In gym we are doing high jump.  The first try I made it over.  I only knocked over the pole once!  Then Alyssa in my class made it over!!!!!!  She  was born premature, so her legs wern’t developed all the way.  No body could belive that she made it over.  Everyone was so happy for her they clapped and cheered when she made it!!!!!!  In math we are learning about quadrilaterals. Quadrilaterals are shapes that make a square in the corner.  For example a square, a rectangle, a trapazoid, and a rhombus.  Today we had our  math tests handed back and it was out of 46.  I got less than five and more than 3.  than add a o.5 on the end!!  What is the answer???

Hatchet Supplies

If I had to go survive in the woods these are the top five things I would bring:

1. Tarp:  You could wrap yourself in it or make a shelter with it.  I would bring tarp because it is water proof too.

2. Gun and bullets: You could shoot  animals for your food.  Plus you could kill dangerous animals.  If my bullets ran out I would use the gun too hit things over the head with.

3. Hatchet: You could skin the animals you kill.  It would be extremely useful for chopping down little dead twigs for fire wood.  You could also use this too carve a stick in to a sphere.

4. Flint: I would take flint so  you could start a fire to keep yourself  toasty warm.  You could cook the to a crisp that  animals you killed.  Fires are good to keep you warm if it was cold outside.

5. First aid kit:  This would be useful because if you got hurt, you would not have to suffer.  I would also use the things in the first aid kit to burn in the fire.  In the first aid kit there would be band-aids, tenser bandages, some sort of cloth, and a sling.

Those are the five things I would bring to the wilderness.
